The first round of our Spanish National Electric Touring Car Championship was held recently at Villareal (2008 European Touring car track), on a beautiful weekend with excellent weather and lots of news in the pits.
There were two categories: Stock and modified, almost all the entries were in the Stock class (40 people), while only 8 racers decided to run in modified class.

HEATS:
The XRAY domination was absolute, setting the pole in the second heat in the stock class, with times very close to those being clocked at the Euro`s.
The first positions were all held by XRAY, with a total of 3 XRAYs in the A-Final including TQ (Gonzalo Garcia XRAY Factory driver), demonstrating that the T2'009 is the car to beat.

FINAL A1:
In the first A-final the start was very clean, with no crashes, all the drivers lined up in a âśtrainâť and put on an exciting show for the spectators.
Three people lead the race, Gonzalo Garcia (XRAY), vicente eres (XRAY) and david escudero, only these people were able to make 16 laps on the Villareal track. Eres seemed to be the fastest but not the most consistent, for this reason he wasnâ™t able to hold onto the lead. It was Gonzaloâ™s consistency that pushed him to the win in A1.
Final A2:
The start was not as clean as the previous one, with a lot of crashes. Gonzalo got tied up in the wreckage and lost the lead position. From this point on he fought from the last position and started to climb up the ranks until the last two laps where he was fighting against the new leader, David Escudero. Gonzalo passed him in the last lap and built a gap of 9 seconds to take the second final, and also securing the overall victory in the first round of the Spanish Nationals with his XRAY T2'009.
